Construction has officially started at Westlands Drive, where 15 new affordable, sustainable homes will be delivered for the Northway community. Four of the homes will be sold for Shared Ownership, a more flexible way of helping people onto the property ladder in Oxford.
To mark the start of the project, pupils from New Marston Primary School, working with AT The Bus, created vibrant artwork that’s now displayed around the site, celebrating the community from day one.
Delivered by OX Place and LIFE Build Solutions Limited, the development reflects a shared commitment to creating high-quality homes while investing in local people and places.
Councillor Nigel Chapman, Cabinet Member for Citizen Focused Services and Council Companies, commented: “It’s fantastic to see work now getting underway at Westlands. This development demonstrates exactly why Oxford City Council created OX Place, to help deliver modern, high-quality and sustainable homes across the City while ensuring the benefits are reinvested back into Oxford.”
Amy Weaver, AT the Bus, commented: “AT The Bus believes that children & young people should have the opportunity to shape the places they live. Through this project we supported the children from our partner school, New Marston Primary, to create original artworks from recycled materials. We hope the children’s artwork gives residents a sense of the opportunity these new homes represent for the community.”
